Wichita Symphony Orchestra: Star Wars at 50

Wichita Symphony Orchestra: Star Wars at 50 at Century II Concert Hall At Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center

When John Williams wrote the Star Wars score in 1977, that opening fanfare became inseparable from the story itself. The Wichita Symphony Orchestra brings that legacy to Century II Concert Hall on Saturday, May 8, 2027 at 7:30 PM, celebrating five decades with a program that spans the complete Skywalker Saga and themes from The Mandalorian.

The program sweeps through every era, from binary sunsets of the original trilogy to themes from The Mandalorian. This 50th-anniversary symphonic odyssey brings every iconic theme to life in spectacular detail, offering a journey through Williams's monumental contribution to film music and the concerts that honor it.

Live orchestral performance reveals the architecture Williams built into these compositions. A full orchestra translates the brass fanfares, string phrases, and Force motifs in real time, creating a different listening experience than recordings allow. The music that changed cinema gets performed by musicians who understand its scope.

This is Wichita, this is May, this is the Force conducted live.

Hearing a full orchestra translate these themes in real time gives you a reason to listen for details beyond the familiar melodies. Check ticket options for the Star Wars 50th-anniversary symphonic celebration.
