Wichita Symphony Orchestra: Wind Waves and Skyfire

Wichita Symphony Orchestra: Wind Waves and Skyfire at Century II Concert Hall At Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center

When nature meets orchestral precision, every note carries the weight of oceans and sky. On Sunday, April 18, 2027, at 3:00 PM, the Wichita Symphony Orchestra brings Wind, Waves & Skyfire to Century II Concert Hall in Wichita, transforming elemental forces into sound. This program journeys from Barber's sharp wit through Mozart's sublime clarity to Debussy's impressionistic waves in a program spanning a century of composition.

Watch the Symphony's own Principal Clarinet Rachelle Goter step into the spotlight for Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A major, K. 622. Hearing a resident artist command a concerto adds intimacy you won't find in touring productions. Goter knows this stage, this room, this ensemble. That familiarity translates into expressive freedom, letting Mozart's elegance unfold with personal authority.

The program balances four distinct voices: Barber's School for Scandal Overture kicks things off, then Stacy Garrop's Spectacle of Light ignites the sky with vibrant color before Debussy's La Mer closes with sweeping impressionistic power. La Mer captures ocean movement through one of music's most evocative scores, painting water and light in pure sound. Each piece offers a different lens on the natural world.

This orchestral performance celebrates virtuosity rooted in your own community and repertoire that spans centuries. Check ticket options for Wichita Symphony Orchestra: Wind Waves and Skyfire at Century II Concert Hall.
