Metropolitan Ballet: The Nutcracker

Metropolitan Ballet: The Nutcracker at Century II Concert Hall At Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center

Metropolitan Ballet performs The Nutcracker at Century II Concert Hall on Sunday, November 29, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Clara's journey through enchanted realms unfolds through classical ballet, with regional dancers and professional guest artists bringing the choreography to life. The Salt City Orchestra provides live accompaniment, performing Tchaikovsky's score as the dancers move across the stage.

Live dancers and musicians share the stage. You witness trained performers executing pirouettes and leaps while musicians play every note in real time. Theatre performances like this deliver the story through movement and orchestration rather than recorded playback, creating an atmosphere screens cannot replicate.

The Nutcracker has become an annual tradition for Wichita families, a way to mark the start of the holiday season with a shared experience. Metropolitan Ballet's production draws on local talent alongside guest artists, giving the performance a community connection. Generations have watched the Sugar Plum Fairy and the kingdom of sweets come to life in this same hall.

A Sunday afternoon matinee makes it easier to gather family members and experience the magic together.
