Metropolitan Ballet: The Nutcracker

Metropolitan Ballet: The Nutcracker at Century II Concert Hall At Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center

Some stories never lose their sparkle, and this one glows brighter when dancers move to a live orchestra. Metropolitan Ballet joins forces with the Salt City Orchestra on Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 7:00 PM, bringing Tchaikovsky's enchanted score to breathing life. When the Sugar Plum Fairy pirouettes and the battle with the Mouse King erupts, you won't hear recordings. Strings and woodwinds fill Century II Concert Hall with music that has carried generations through Christmas.

This is a Wichita holiday tradition built by local dancers from across the region alongside accomplished guest artists. Clara's wide-eyed wonder, her loyal Nutcracker prince, and the whimsical journey through the Land of Sweets unfold through theatre polished by your neighbors and professionals who have traveled to share this stage. The choreography honors the classic while the casting keeps it unmistakably homegrown.

The Nutcracker works for every age. Toddlers gasp at snowflakes swirling overhead. Teens catch technical details they missed as kids. Adults rediscover why this ballet survives while trends fade. It creates a rare common language in Wichita, a shared memory that kicks off the season when families still gather. Make the ballet part of a holiday outing you can share across generations.
