August Wilson's Fences at The Forum Theatre - KS

Some fights never end, they just find new battlegrounds. August Wilson's Fences captures that truth in the story of Troy Maxson, a former Negro League baseball star turned Pittsburgh garbage man who spent decades nursing the wound of being shut out from the majors. It's 1957, and his son Cory now dreams of his own shot at professional ball. What unfolds is a collision between a father's hard-earned bitterness and a son's hunger for something better.

Aaron Profit takes the stage as Troy Maxson on Friday, November 6, 2026 at 8:00 PM at The Forum Theatre in Wichita. The production runs from October 29 through November 15, giving audiences multiple chances to witness this cornerstone of American theatre. You're watching the kind of family conflict that still erupts at dinner tables today, just set against the backdrop of a divided America that thought a Black man's talent had limits.

Wilson writes dialogue that lands hard. You'll watch Troy's frustration bleed into every relationship he touches, from his wife Rose to the son who dares to want more.

Make an evening of Wilson's sharp dialogue and difficult family choices. Find ticket options for Fences at The Forum Theatre in Wichita for the Nov 6, 2026 performance.
